Articoli Correlati: Plenary - Conference on the Future of Europe - EU Parliament
At a meeting held on 25th, 26th March in the European Parliament in Strasbourg the Plenary and the nine working groups started working on the final proposals of the Conference on the Future of Europe. The preliminary proposals, prepared by the Presidents and citizens' spokespersons with the assistance of the Joint Secretariat, were discussed by all the members of the Plenary: citizens, MEPs, national parliamentarians, representatives of the Council, the Commission, the social partners, the civil society and local and regional authorities. These proposals are mainly based on recommendations from European citizens' and national panels, on ideas gathered through the multilingual digital platform, and on contributions from debates in plenary sessions and working groups. In presenting material from the European Parliament working groups, MEPs stressed that even the most ambitious proposals from citizens must be taken seriously and pledged to defend the valuable work done by European citizens in the Conference process. In line with citizens' recommendations, many MEPs called for stronger European policies in areas such as health, foreign policy, youth, education and culture. According to some MEPs, the EU needs to become more ambitious and lead digital connectivity, while others argue that it should support small and medium-sized enterprises.
