On January 26th, 2022, the European Parliament and the Commission published a special Eurobarometer conducted together on the future of Europe with a general and broad perspective. At the beginning of 2022, proclaimed the European Year of Youth, today’s survey highlights the views of young Europeans on the challenges the European Union is facing, together with the key role that young people are playing in the Conference on the future of Europe. According to today’s Eurobarometer, 91% of people aged 15 to 24 believe that fighting climate change can help improve their health and well-being, while among people aged 55 years or more the percentage is 84%. Nearly one on two Europeans see climate change as the main global challenge for the future of the EU, with overwhelming support for the environmental objectives of the European Green Deal: 88% of Europeans believe it is important to increase the share of renewable energy and have greater energy efficiency, while 80% agree on the importance of making Europe the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050 and of promoting the growth of the market for low and zero-emission vehicles.
