The revision of E.U. Regulation no. 2015/847 on transfers of funds for the purpose of tracing crypto-asset transfers which should consolidate the last pillar of the European Commission’s Action plan to strengthen E.U. rules aimed at combating money laundering and terrorist financing. The proposed reform obliges all service providers to perform customer due diligence, guarantees full traceability of crypto-asset transfers and makes it possible to prevent and identify their possible use for money laundering/terrorist financing purposes. The extension process must take place not only by updating the number of obliged entities but also by requesting the development of specific regulatory measures and requirements according to the ways in which the transfer of funds is carried out through “virtual assets”.
