15/12/2018 - Brexit: new “visas” for workers entering and leaving the United Kingdom

Articoli Correlati: Brexit

Among the post-Brexit drawbacks, it should be noted that the 2.5 million European citizens who work in the U.K. today, of which almost 200 thousand Italians, will be the first to experience its effects. The “EU immigrants” will lose their “priority” status immediately after the official formalization of Brexit, scheduled for March 2019. Naturally, highly skilled workers will be favored when freedom of movement will regress before the European Union is established. In essence, E.U. citizens will no longer be given or legally recognized any priorities or “short cuts” to live and work in Britain as a radical revision of British immigration policy will be implemented. This “close” will result in equal restrictions for British citizens who, in turn, will have to apply for new US-style visas to visit and/or work in Europe. However, it is still awaiting possible special concessions with respect to the freedom of movement, or mobility that - if it enters in the agreement - will contemplate a specific regulation under the full control of the British Government.
