Articoli Correlati: EU Parliament - Ukraine - EU customs duties

On May 19th, 2022, the EU Parliament approved the one-year suspension of EU customs duties on all Ukrainian imports to support the country’s economy. This temporary trade liberalization comes in response to the impact of the Russian war against Ukraine which is hampering the country’s trading capacity. The measures provide for the complete removal, for one year, of import duties on industrial products, customs duties on fruit and vegetables, as well as anti-dumping duties and safeguard measures on steel imports. These measures have been adopted also having considered the relations between the EU and Ukraine, which are governed by an association agreement. The Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), part of the association agreement, has guaranteed Ukrainian companies preferential access to the EU market since 2016. The EU is Ukraine’s most important trading partner and accounted for more than 40% of its total trade in goods in 2021. Ukraine is the destination of around 1.2% of total EU trade.
