During the fifteenth Information Society Dialogue between the European Union and the United States of America, they reaffirmed their strategic alliance sharing common values, even in the tech sector. The topics of discussion ranged from cyber security, through the 5G, the Next Generation Technologies, the regulatory framework of telecommunications, online platforms and data flows. Each party explained his approach to important issues related to the protection of personal data and the free flow of data, recognized as “the engine of digital transformation and facilitator of transatlantic trade”. The U.S. delegation provided a report on two recent domestic changes: the executive order on cyber security of federal networks and critical infrastructures and the order of the Federal Communications Commission on so-called net neutrality. Understanding between the parties also on the importance of greater coordination between U.S.A. and E.U. in key international forums such as the G7 and on the need for multi-stakeholder approaches in the defense and promotion of an open Internet.
