Articoli Correlati: WTO - fisheries subsidies

On 14-17 of May 2018 the WTO members were reunited in order to discuss any issue relating to fisheries subsidies. This was the first occasion in which the members agreed to follow the plan established during the 11th Ministerial Conference held last December in Buenos Aires. The four days cluster of meetings followed a specific order which was agreed between WTO members and which contemplated a first day meeting on each member’s technical plan for the future on fisheries subsidies, followed by a discussion on any possible differences of treatment between developing and developed countries; eventually, some time was left for any bilateral meeting and agreements between different members. In order to close the meetings, the chair of the Negotiating Group, Ambassador Roberto Zapata Barradas of Mexico maintained: "I believe that discussions have been productive, both in increasing the understanding of some issues and in identifying areas where further clarification continues to be needed, as well as in advancing our ongoing streamlining work."
