The EP calls for legislative proposals by the end of January 2022 to facilitate legal migration in order to ameliorate the situation of legal labor and to try to fight the problem of aging in the EU. On November 25th, 2021, MEPs passed a legislative initiative resolution on legal labor migration. The text calls for the creation of a pool of European talents to bring candidates from third countries together with potential employers based in the EU, to alleviate the shortage of labor in EU countries. The system should be based on the existing EURES portal. The aim of the initiative is that of an integration scheme for third-country workers with a low to medium level of education and a recognition framework for their skills and qualifications. This scheme should facilitate the legal entry into the European Union of foreign entrepreneurs who want to create businesses and start-ups. In addition, MEPs are calling for the Commission to create new five-year multiple-entry visas, allowing entry into the EU for up to 90 days a year.
