On 15 April 2019, the E.U. Council adopted a Directive on digital content relating to contracts for the supply of content and digital services and a second Directive relating to contracts for the sale of goods. The two measures are aimed at facilitating the sale of goods and digital content throughout the E.U. for businesses, especially SMEs, and ensuring a high level of protection and legal certainty for European consumers, particularly when making purchases cross-border. Companies wishing to sell in Europe will be able to count on a reduction in administrative obligations and consumers, in the event of defects in the goods, will be entitled to request a price reduction or full reimbursement from the producers, since they can count on the reversal of the burden of proof on the quality of the goods purchased and on the double protection in the event of non-conformity of the product: withdrawal or price reduction.
